This is Teen Tech Week at the library
      It’s Teen Tech Week and the library is having an Internet Safety Program for grades 6-12 and their parents on Wednesday, March 10, from 4 to 5 p.m. This program will be presented by Detective J.B. Smith of the Lufkin Police Department. Topics will cover such things as Internet predators and how to keep your information safe.

      The children of Morris and Betty Smith will host a celebration of their parents’ 50th wedding anniversary March 20 at the Temple Memorial Library’s Ellen & Buddy Temple Community Room.

Ellie Kay Terrell born Feb. 8
      Mike and Tina Terrell announce the birth of their daughter, Ellie Kay, born Feb. 8 at Memorial Medical Center, weighing 6 pounds 11 ounces. Her sister is Emma and her brother is Eli. Grandparents are Jimmy and Mavis Trout of Diboll, Richard Terrell of Diboll and Jimmie Lynn Terrell of Livingston.

Genealogical Society to meet March 15
      Members of the Angelina County Genealogical Society will get a chance at their March 15 meeting to find out how one of the more successful East Texas small-town genealogy organizations operates. Sandra Brownlow of the Timpson Area Genealogical and Heritage Society will discuss her experiences and offer tips she said she hopes will be helpful to other groups.

Contested races a good excuse to visit
      Voting in Precincts 3 and 4 certainly had a lot of activity during the early voting and the day of the election. Anytime there are contested races for county commissioners, justices of the peace and sheriff, the turnout is more than usual.

G/T teachers present update in Edinburg
      Sue Rolf and Jean Ann Keen, PACE teachers at Dunbar Primary School, just came back from a quick weekend trip to South Texas. They were asked to present a Gifted/Talented update for G/T teachers in the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. Sue and Jean Ann are trainers for the Independent Investigation Method (IIM) of research, and have presented workshops all over Texas.

DAR honors Good Citizens
      Amanda Jordan of Diboll and Charles Ray Jones of Huntington were among the Good Citizens honored by the DAR. The Anthony Smith Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met for their regular meeting at St Cyprian’s Episcopal Church Parlor on March 2 to honor the DAR Good Citizens from the six area schools.
