Kelley Moore told me that daughter Kimberly had called and said it was minus 7 degrees in Bozeman, Montana. She bought a pair of snow boots to wear to work and said the high heels weren't an option in the snow! She really loves it, loves her job and the people at work. She has enjoyed the Panthers being on TV and has been able to catch both the games. Kelley can't wait to see her when she comes home December 22.

Be on the lookout for opportunities to purchase tickets prior to the Shindig or just buy them at the door. Back by popular demand.the Aggie-Longhorn Cup Golf Tournament! They had a tremendous amount of fun at last year's resurrection of the golf tournament, and hope that you golfers out there will take time to participate in this year's event scheduled for Friday, November 17th with a noon starting time. The proceeds from the tournament will be divided among the Aggie and Longhorn Clubs based on alumni and/or school supporters that play.

Barbara and Wayne Davis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary November 1, 2006. They were honored with a reception on October 28 at the Lufkin Senior Citizen Center. Hosting were their children: sons, Ricky of Lufkin and Mike of Ennis, daughter Jill and husband Wendell Goad of Chireno and Matt and wife Tonya of Pasadena, Texas. Also hosting were Joyce McDonald, Joy Hammack, Ronnie and Dian Davis. Assisting between play/visiting time, were grandchildren Kimberly, Jessica and Timothy Goad and Reagan and Avery Davis. A special surprise was Jesse and Margaret Standfield from Bryan who they had not seen since their wedding 50 years prior but had kept in touch. Wayne was in the Navy with Jesse, and they being the married couple of the bunch fed them on several occasions. Also attending were other Navy friends C. W. (Buddy) Williams, his daughter Drew, Loyce Williams, the widow of E. T. Williams and her daughter Tammy. It was a wonderful reunion. All four of these guys were on the USS St Paul in the early fifties. Families from the Dallas area were: Don Costlow, Darrell and Marlene Davis, Brian, Edith, Natalie, Thomas, Kirby and Charley Davis, and John Davis. Family from Lufkin included Lottie Redd, Shannon Peek, Derek Peek, Tanya Davis, Alex and Zack Davis. A good time was had by all with a lot of hugging, greeting and picture taking. Space will not allow for the entire group of over 100 guests that were registered, but the Davises very much appreciated them for taking time to celebrate with them.

Ryan graduated from UT in May of 2005 with his degree in economics and lives in Austin.
I had a note from Janis Duncan in Houston. She enjoys the Diboll Free Press and recognizes some of your names that she attended school with before she graduated in 1956. She was remembering that her dad was on a committee at the Diboll First United Methodist Church when they dedicated a cross for the late Wilbur F. Pate. Annie Laura Mason Day had been to visit her.
Bettie and Joe Powell attended Grand Friends Day at All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler for granddaughter Rilee Miller, 11-year-old daughter of Shaye and Darell Miller.

The 4th Annual Angelina County Veteran's Day Parade downtown Lufkin was well attended in spite of the windy weather. Bob Morgan had his float with Veterans Bob Hicks, Bob Poland, Robert Poland, Jr., Phillip Leach, George Taylor, C.V. Jackson, James Reese, Ernest Rutland, Mike Shockley and Mike Taylor. Bob is special to honor these Vets each year. Chuck Royston and Don Brawley were the chauffeurs in the Royston Studebaker for J. R. Cox and Billy Beavers. Sue Brawley told me that she and Don have three sons in the military. One son Steve is an orthopedic surgeon at the Navy Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Doug is a Navy Commander of a minesweeper in Japan. Scott is a Major in the Army stationed at Fort Eustis, VA near Newport News, Virginia now serving in Iraq. That is a patriotic family. Mary Jo and Jack Gorden were in the parade riding in their 1949 Jeep convertible. Charles and Polly Young were in their 1930 Ford Model A coupe with rumble seat. I noticed John Hallmark riding in the E Tech float. There were Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts waving flags along with other patriotic organizations that I could not recognize. The Red Hat ladies were on a float again like in the Christmas parade. It lasted about 20 minutes and was very inspirational to see the entire crowd waving and cheering the Veterans. The Boy Scouts and Scout Masters talked with the Vets after the parade.
The Angelina Rotary Club flags were flying on Saturday. Thanks for this special tribute each holiday.
I went to the Honor America Night at the LHS Cafeteria with La June Bradley and on to Abe Martin Stadium where the bands performed in a tribute to America and the Veterans. If you missed it, you should plan next year to attend. Along with being inspirational, it was so good to see all of the band students from the 6th grade to 12th grades performing. The fire works sponsored by Neal and Mary Ann Naranjo and A Pineywoods Home Health Care, Inc. were spectacular. I think I said that last year too. Too many people to name were involved in this production and it was SUPER. Band directors: Scott Williams, Bill Butler, Thomas Smith and Shawn Schultz do a wonderful job with these young people.
Joe Fontenot and Pat George from Conroe were in Lufkin prior to the Panthers playing the Conroe Tigers. They came to the High School to see the Hall of Honor. Joe is an Aggie and Pat a teasip. Joe was on the Panther 1943 squad.

It is to teach blind people how to repair things. “Blind Like Me” is an interview show by Phil Parr interviewing successful blind people. They all attended the Houston Gathering of fans chauffeured by Emily Patterson. I told Phil that I was always the “handicapped” person around him. I hope that I got this correct.

Sue Dietz, President LWML, gave me some on the committee: Louise Haynes, Adele Czypiel, Lib Schlesselman, Narcy Teichelman, Mary Winkelmann, Patsy Biehle, and Evelyn Berry. One thing that I bought were magnets for my refrigerator “Be careful of the words you say today, because tomorrow you may have to eat them!” and “Be nice to your kids, they pick your nursing home!” Proceeds will fund projects to CISC, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and Lutheran World Relief. I bought a fall leaf wreath for my door and took home barbecue lunches served by the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Their proceeds benefited the Pregnancy Help Center of Lufkin.
