Funeral services for Walter Ray Scogin, 61, of Hudson were held Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Vic Bass and Pastor Elton Musick officiating. Interment followed in the Aldredge Cemetery.
Mr. Scogin was born January 8, 1945 in Lufkin, to Irene (Hopson) and Jack Scogin, and died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Scogin was a lifelong resident of Hudson. He retired from John Pouland Transport, where he was a truck driver. Mr. Scogin was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include his son, Stacey Ray Scogin of Hudson; granddaughter, MacKenzie Suzanne McBroom; mother, Irene Scogin of Hudson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Scogin of Hudson, Donald and Carol Scogin of Central and Ronnie and Lilly Scogin of Hudson; sister, Jackie Cochran of Lufkin; fiancé, Debra Jones of Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Charlie “Goodtime Charlie” Cortines, Gary “Wild Bill” Treadway, Jerry “Gambler” Phillips, Robert “Rubber Duck” Jernigan, Louis “Mule” Randolph, J.R. “Little Mule” Wilson, Bobby “Jolly Green Giant” Crawford and Michael “T.M.” Scogin. Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, was in charge of arrangements.
