By Billy Longino
In what could have been one of the biggest wins ever for the Diboll Lady Jacks the fans watch in amazement as the ladies from Diboll dominated Alto with a 93-8 win, that's right 93-8.
The Lady Jacks came onto the court pounding the Lady Yellow Jackets with a strong defensive presence. Alto could not make it down the court before the Lady Jacks would take possession.
Such a dominating force on the court had to have been led by dominating players.
Moné Deason led the charge with 22 points followed by Vanessa Jones with 20 points, Nikki Greene with 18 and DaNeshia Holman with 15.
Greene gave a stellar performance under the goal with 13 rebounds, she also had a 75% shooting percentage. Holman was on top of the game in keeping Alto in line with three steals, two assists and three interecptions. JaFrina Jackson had four interceptions and Jones had three steals.
When the JV Lady Jacks went up against Alto in their first game of the season last Tuesday they led the way for the spectacular wins of the evening. The JV Lady Jacks defeated Alto in a 77-4 win.
On Saturday the Lady Jacks traveled to John Tyler and pulled out two victories against the 5A team.
The Varsity ladies won with a 49-39 final score. Greene had 15 points, Homan 10 points and Deason 11 points.
The JV team fell short with a final score of 31-41, but the freshman ladies came out on top with a decisive 54-30 victory.
Niecy Deason led the ladies in scoring with 16 points followed by Frankie Bogany with 15 and Meredith Ruby with 10.
This week the ladies face Nacogdoches on Tuesday and then travel to Livingston the following week. Come out and support the Lady Jacks.
Also congratulations to the Lady Jacks new head coach Luara Knight who has already led the varsity team to two wins in the first week of competition.
This is another chapter in a new beginning for Diboll Athletics.
