NILA ROPER

Dec. 10, 1922 - Dec. 27, 2006

Nila Selman Norris Roper, 84, of Lufkin, was born December 10, 1922, in Lufkin, the daughter of the late Beulah (Nivens) and Frank Selman. She passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at her residence.

Interment services will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2006, in Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 10:30 a.m., in the Chapel at PineCrest Retirement Community with Reverend Aubrey Knox officiationg. The family will receive friends immediately after the memorial service at PineCrest.

Mrs. Roper, a life-long resident of Lufkin, was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church and the Alpha Sunday School Class. She had lived in Lufkin all her life.

Survivors include her son, Charles P. Norris; grandchildren, Charles Jason Norris, Courtney Michelle Norris and Michael Perry Norris; stepchildren, Steve and Sherry Roper, Danny and Nichole Roper, and Gay and Ray Parker; several step-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding Nila in death were her husbands, Charles Norris in 1973 and Jim Roper in 1996.

Interment services for Mrs. Roper will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2006, in Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2006, in the Chapel at PineCrest Retirement Community with Reverend Aubrey Knox officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the memorial service at PineCrest.
