Not very often does a town see a team like the 2006-2007 Lady Jacks. A team that came from nowhere and formed into a state-ranked powerhouse has taken Diboll by storm.
At the very beginning of the season the seats in Lumberjack Gymnasium were nowhere near capacity for Lady Jack games -all of that has changed now.
Every Tuesday night sees Lumberjack Gymnasium packed early for the Lady Jacks' games, and never is the crowd let down.
The Lady Jacks went up against their toughest opponents yet last week.
In a near repeat of their first meeting this season the Diboll Lady Jacks and Crockett Lady Bulldogs hit head on in Lumberjack Gymnasium last Thursday night making up for a game that cancelled after freezing weather moved through the area.
In what was some of the most vicious basketball many had seen yet the Lady Jacks emerged victorious but not unscathed.
The Lady Jacks fought through the vicious Lady Bulldog assault to emerge victorious with a final score of 48-38.
Then on the very next evening the Lady Jacks traveled to Central certainly still reeling from the previous night. Central was holding their homecoming but the Lady Jacks had no interest in letting things slide for the occasion. Instead the Lady Jacks hit the court hard and fast in an assault that the Central ladies could barely hold up to.
When the dust cleared the Lady Jacks had blown past Central's attempts at claiming victory for homecoming with a score of 63-44.
Nikki Greene was the big scorer on the night with a whopping career-high of 25 points.
The JV Lady Jacks weren't so fortunate as they fell by a ten point margin with a score of 26-36. Scores from that game were:
D. West- 3
D. Simmons- 6
J. Moses- 5
D. Grant- 5
J. Lewis-3
Y. Salais- 2
The Diboll Freshman Lady Jacks improved their record to 14-1 following their bought with the Central Lady Bulldogs. Scores there were:
F. Bogany- 13
C. Burns- 7
N. Deason- 8
M. Ruby- 3
The Lady Jacks continue down the path to the post-season so come out and show your support.
