JESSIE BURCHFIELD

Mar. 3, 1929 - Jan. 24, 2007

Jessie Dean Burchfield, 77, of Spring, was born March 3, 1929, in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Mae (Burkett) and Anthony Dean. She passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, in a Tomball hospital.

Jessie attended school in Lufkin and moved to Diboll, where she met the love of her life, Dick Burchfield. Jessie and Dick were married on March 29, 1947. Dick and Jessie lived in Houston, Texas, from 1950 until 1982, when Dick retired from Chevron and they moved back to Lufkin. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Diboll. Jessie had resided in Spring for the past two years.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Donald Sander of Houston; twin granddaughters, Heather Wilson and husband, Dean, and Holly Brunnert and husband, David, all of Houston; three great granddaughters, Haley and twins, Ashley and Abigail; sister, Lena Coody of Diboll; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding Jessie in death were her husband, Dick Burchfield, in 2001; two brothers, Buddy and Harold Dean; and her parents. Pallbearers will be Fred Sander, Dean Wilson, David Brunnert, Duane Burchfield, John Richard Powers and Frank Fry.

Services for Mrs. Burchfield were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend C.G. “Buster” Grigg officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Gipson Funeral Home; Charles R. Ervin, director, was in charge of arrangements.
