David Maurice Cook, 59, of Lufkin, was born July 18, 1947, in Lufkin, the son of Ruby Jo (Walters) and Maurice Cook. He passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at his residence in Lufkin.
Mr. Cook was an attorney and former judge. He was a 1965 graduate of Lufkin High School and a graduate of the University of Houston Law School. His career included serving as Lufkin's City Judge and as an Angelina County Court-At-Law Judge. David was a member of the Church of Christ and had lived in Lufkin all his life. Survivors include his mother, Ruby Jo Cook of Lufkin; brother, Mike Cook of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Judy Cook Futch and Jackie Futch of Pollok; nieces, Becky Hughes and Laura Futch; and nephews, Doug Futch and Brian Cook.
Preceding David in death was his father, Maurice Cook.
Services for Mr. Cook were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2007, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with the Honorable Paul White officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Funeral services were entrusted to Gipson Funeral Home; Todd Stracener, director.
