The Diboll Lumberjacks faced another week of upsetting losses after facing the Center Roughriders and Rusk Eagles.

The ‘Jacks hosted Rusk at Lumberjack Gymnasium last Tuesday and the Eagles came onto the court soaring.

In the first quarter the Eagles laid down a 26-point assault while only allowing the Lumberjacks 16. Rusk would continue the pounding into the second period with a 17-point attack while keeping the Jacks down to 9 in the quarter. The relentless Eagle's lead at the half with a score of 43-25.

Diboll would attempt to stay in the game with a new found energy as they came out for the second half. Ketaraus Stanton lead the way for the ‘Jacks with a total of 12 points, two rebounds, three assists and four steals but his push would not be enough to set the ‘Jacks over.

Rusk held the Lumberjacks at bay until the final buzzer. The ‘Jacks suffered their first loss of the week at 61-57 following a strong attempt at a comeback late in the game.

Other scores for Diboll were: Edwin Simon eight points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals; Jefferson Hayes eight points, five rebounds and two steals; Gilbert Moye eight points, eight rebounds, one assist and four steals; Alex Castillo seven points, one rebound and three steals; Victor Arreola six points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal; Devoyious Mark four points and one rebound; Steven Holcombe two points and one steal; Cornelius Polk two points.

On Friday night things got hot for the Center Roughriders as the Lumberjacks, determined not to fall short again, gave them a run for their money.

Unfortunately for the Lumberjacks that aggression is what did them in with over a quarter of the Roughriders points being made through free throws.

The first quarter didn't appear good for the Lumberjacks but things changed in the second period when the ‘Jacks came out to score 30 points in the quarter alone leaving them trailing by only six points at the half.

The third quarter saw excellent plays on defense by both teams as neither could manage a single point until the fourth period.

The fourth saw the Lumberjacks fighting for their life but despite a big show for Hayes with 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and five steals the ‘Jacks could not muster enough points. The Lumberjacks fell short with a final score of 52-50.

Scores for the ‘Jacks were: Stanton 11 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals; Holcombe eight points, five rebounds and two steals; Polk seven points, one rebound, one assist and one steal; Castillo four points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal; Moye three points and three rebounds.
