Johnson named Brookshire Brothers president, CEO

Lufkin, Texas - Brookshire Brothers Ltd. has announced a restructuring of company leadership effective immediately. Jerry Johnson, former Chief Administrative Officer, will become President and Chief Executive Officer. Jack Gabriel, Executive Vice-President of Retail Operations will assume the responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer. Milton Hixson, of Austin, Texas will become the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Lufkin-based company. These announcements were made following a meeting of the company's board of directors Thursday, February 1, 2007 in Austin, Texas.

Formerly serving as Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, Jerry A. Johnson will assume the responsibilities of President and Chief Executive Officer. Johnson received his undergraduate and law degrees from L.S.U. After serving as one of Brookshire Brothers' outside counsels, Johnson joined the company's board of directors in 1997. He became Brookshire's Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer in the fall of 1998, and has been Acting Chairman of the Board since 2003. He will continue to serve on the company's board.

Formerly serving as Executive Vice President of Retail Operations, Jack Gabriel will assume the responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer. Gabriel attended Northeast University in Monroe, Louisiana. He joined Brookshire Brothers in 1994 and was promoted to Vice President of Marketing in 1998. In 2003 Gabriel became a member of the board of directors. He will continue to serve on the company's board.

Chief Financial Officer Donny Johnson will continue to oversee financial matters for the company. Johnson joined Brookshire Brothers in August 1994 as Assistant Chief Financial Officer and became an Advisory Director in July 1996. In July 1997, Johnson became Chief Financial Officer and a member of Brookshire Brothers' Board of Directors. In November 1998 he was promoted to Executive Vice President. He will continue to serve on the company's board.

Milton Hixson, Board Chairman, has served on the board since 2000. Hixson, a Certified Public Accountant and Certi- fied Financial Planner, received his BBA degree from Baylor University in 1972. In 1987, he founded the investment advisory firm of Financial Management Professionals in Austin, Texas. He also served three terms as Chairman of the Board of the Texas Employee Retirement System, which manages over $20 billion in retirement, medical, and disability funds for Texas state employees. He has extensive knowledge in investment planning, personal, corporate income and estate tax planning, and life and health insurance products and pricing. Hixson has been a director of the company since 2000 and has served on the Brookshire Brothers ESOP Committee, Audit Committee and Chairman of the Compensation Committee.
