Funeral services for Lois Kelley, 81, of Lufkin were held Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Vernon L. Neely and Reverend Willie Wade officiating. Interment followed in the Narrow Way Cemetery.
Mrs. Kelley was born April 17, 1925 in Angelina County, to Daisy Mae (Alsbrooks) and Arthur Oren Thomas, and died Thursday, February 1, 2007 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Kelley was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and was a homemaker. She also devoted her entire life to caring for her family. She was a loving wife and mother, and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kelley worshiped with the United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Billy Edwards of Lufkin; sons, Joe A. Kelley of Lufkin, Harold E. Kelley of Diboll and Robert D. Kelley of Lufkin; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Redd of Edna; brother and sister-in-law, Harlie B. and Betty Thomas of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Margaret Thomas of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnol Kelley; brother, Joe Thomas; sister, Edna Hammack; and brother, Buddy Van Thomas.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Hammack, David Thomas, Joey Thomas, Michael Thomas, Vernon Thomas and Warren Redd.
Honorary pallbearer was Gary Van Thomas. Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors, was in charge of arrangements.
