Alice Jim Scoggins

Feb. 10, 1914 - Feb. 3, 2007

Funeral services for Alice Jim Scoggins, 92, of Lufkin were held Monday, February 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Henderson Chapel of First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Tyson officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Alice Jim was born February 10, 1914 in Rusk County to Daisy Mae (Price) and Chester Gray and died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at her residence.

Mrs. Scoggins, a homemaker, was a member of First United Methodist Church and Leach Sunday School and Leach sewing class. She had also owned and operated West Side Laundry for many years. Alice Jim was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a devoted friend to many people. Memommy loved to cook for her family and will always have a positive influence on the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.P. (Pat) Scoggins and daughter, Patricia Ann Scoggins.

Mrs. Scoggins is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Joyce Scoggins of Longview and Jimmie and Lynda Scoggins of Alice; grandchildren, Robert Scoggins of Lufkin, Mike Scoggins of Nacogdoches, Gray Scoggins of Alice, Scott Scoggins of Cummins, Georgia, Tricia McCrea of Greenwood, S.C.; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Jackey White of Lufkin.

Pallbearers were Robert Scoggins, Mike Scoggins, Scott Scoggins, Gray Scoggins, Tommy McCrea, and John Thannisch. Honorary pallbearers were K. C. Platt and Tom Paxton.

Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors, was in charge of arrangements.
