Mrs. Frank (Jean) Villarreal, 77, of Lufkin, was born June 9, 1929, in Groveton, the daughter of the late Famar (Richardson) and Henry Turner. She passed away Friday, February 2, 2007, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Villarreal was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and her husband owned and operated Frank's Tire Service for 22 years. She was a member of Believer's Bible Church and loved her Bible studies. She never met a stranger, and opened her home to foreign exchange students. Mrs. Villarreal loved her First Monday trips to Canton. She enjoyed gardening, painting and sewing, and was very creative. She once had an article in the Lufkin Daily News for her sewing and painting on denim jackets. She was very family-oriented and loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her son, Phillip Frank Villarreal of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, John Mark and Lisa Villarreal of Diboll; granddaughter, Lt. Michelle Villarreal, with the USAF in Florida; grandson, Sr. Airman Scott Villarreal, with the USAF in Maryland; granddaughters, Jessica Lee Cantrell and husband Garrett of Virginia, and Megan Villarreal of Diboll; grandson, Brenton Ray Shumaker of Pollok; great-granddaughters, Mallory Breanne Cantrell of Tyler and Madison Lee-Grace Villarreal of Diboll; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Bell and Elton Beaird of Austin; sister, Muzette (Jo) Schymanski of Milam; numerous nieces and nephews; and Dianne Purcell, Dorothy Brock and Lois Thompson, special friends.
Mrs. Villarreal was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank Villarreal, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Henry Turner, Jr. and Ellen Turner; brother, Dalton Dan Turner; grandson, John Thompson; and nephew, Ronald Turner. Pallbearers were Rick Rambin, Leon Sanches, Dustin Raasch, Paul Kamp, David Richards and Dusty Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers were the Master Gardeners of Lufkin, and her nephew, Carroll Wayne Turner.
Services for Mrs. Villarreal were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Bob Klund officiating. Interment followed in the Bennett Cemetery in Trinity County.
Gipson Funeral Home, Joni Johnson, director, was in charge of arrangements.
