Riddie Bacon, 86, of Woodville, passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6th at First Baptist Church in Woodville with burial at Pine Grove Cemetery near Corrigan. Officiating was Brother Hails Taylor.
Riddie was born July 13, 1920 to Joe and Lola Matthews in Polk County. She worked for the Corrigan School District in the Food Service Department for many years. She loved her church and was a giving, compassionate and hard working woman.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cullen Rocka; a son, Robert Rocka; a granddaughter, Pam Rocka; second husband, Noah Bacon, Sr. and son-in-law M.D. Holland.
She is survived by her daughter, Gracie Holland of Woodville; step-daughters, Earlene Capehart of Blair, OK and Janice Tullos and husband Thomas of Corrigan; two step-sons Noah Bacon, Jr. and wife Mary of Lufkin, Gene Bacon and wife Melba of Diboll; seven grandchildren, Ty Phillips, Glen Rocka, T.J. Tullos, Noah Tullos, Allen Bacon, Paula Whitworth and Shelley Grubbs and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
