Memorial services for Nancy Croom Wilson, 84, of Lufkin, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at the PineCrest Retirement Community Chapel.
Nancy was born August 1, 1922, in Lufkin, the daughter of the late Thelma (Scarborough) and Guy Croom. She passed away Saturday, February 3, 2007.
Nancy graduated from Lufkin High School in 1939 and went to Stephens College in Missouri. She then attended the University of Texas, and graduated from East Texas State University, now Texas A&M, Commerce with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1971. Nancy and James C. Wilson of Temple, Texas were married on September 26, 1942. She volunteered at the Museum of East Texas from 1984 until her illness in July, 2006. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her three daughters, Cheryl Wilson of Minden, Louisiana, Madeline Averett of Fredericksburg and Melanie Erickson of Flagstaff, Arizona; sister, Mary Ann Slaback of Longview; granddaughter, Amanda Pettey of Houston; and great-granddaughter, Lily Maxine Pettey.
