Anna Boles named as Family and Consumer agent for County

Anna Boles of Nacogdoches, has been named Texas Cooperative Extension's County Extension Agent-Family and Consumer Sciences for Angelina County, effective February 15, 2007, according to a joint announcement by Angelina County Judge Wes Suiter, the Angelina County Commissioners Court, and Dr. Ramona Kellam, District Extension Administrator for Texas Cooperative Extension headquartered at the Agricultural Research & Extension Center at Overton.

"I am pleased to have Anna join our County Extension Faculty in Angelina County. She will be a great asset for Angelina County and Texas Cooperative Extension," says Kellam. "I feel certain Anna will do an excellent job because of her leadership skills, previous experience in an internship with Texas Cooperative Extension, and her enthusiasm and professionalism."

Anna earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from Stephen F. Austin State University in December 2006. In the Spring of 2006 while working on her degree, Anna worked as an intern at the Nacogdoches County Extension Office in Nacogdoches. She also worked as a secretary at AgriLand Farm Credit Services in Nacogdoches and as a sales assistant/secretary for Boles Feed Company in Center.

While in college, Anna served as State Chairman of the Texas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Student Section for two years. She served as President SFASU Texas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Student Section in 2005-2006.

Anna will fill the position formerly held by Peggy Adams. As County Extension Agent-Family Consumer Sciences she will work with all aspects of Family and Consumer Sciences in Angelina County.

The County Extension Office in Angelina County is part of Texas Cooperative Extension, an agency of the Texas A&M University System. Local Extension programs extend university resources to local residents by providing practical information and education in the four areas of agriculture and natural resources, family and consumer sciences, 4-H and youth development, and community development. Extension is a cooperative effort of the United States Department of Agriculture, the State of Texas through Texas A&M University, and the Angelina County Commissioners' Court.

Miss Boles commented, "I am so excited and honored to have this opportunity to serve Angelina County as their Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent. As a former 4-H member, I realize how important it is to have leaders throughout the club that are trained to teach future generations to strive for continuous improvement. and leading them to have higher expectations for their futures. I believe that with the help of the county, we can build strong and resourceful programs that will be of great benefit for the citizens of the county."
