Funeral services for Nina Mae Chambers, 91, of Lufkin were held Monday, February 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Pat Jones officiating and David Gordon assisting. Interment followed in the Gann Cemetery.
Mrs. Chambers was born May 10, 1915 in Corsicana, Texas, to Tennie (Alexander) Battles and Phyneas Battles, and died Friday, February 9, 2007 at a local hospital. Mrs. Chambers was a member of Union Road Church of Christ and had been employed by Carmike Cinemas for twenty years.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law; Annette and Ernie Teer of Lufkin, granddaughters; Darla Runnels of Pollok, Jan Teer of Lufkin, grandson and wife; Kevin and Lynn Runnels of Pollok, granddaughters; Denese Runnels of Lufkin and Leigh Ann Teer of Lufkin. great-grandchildren; Jessica, Meghan and Zachary Runnels of Pollok and Bryan and Amy Tucker of Arkansas; sister in law, Hazel Battles of Smithville, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews and beloved family members Katherine and Tommie Gordon of Huntington Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Otis Chambers in 1954, her parents Tennie and Phyneas Battles, and nine brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were Kevin Runnels, Tommy Gordon, Wayne Rushing, Johnny Sewell, Shane Gordon and David Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Britain and Robert Battles.
Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors, were in charge of arrangements.
