Mixed week for Lumberjacks

The Diboll Lumberjacks saw a week of mixed results as they fought to regain some momentum following a string of losses over the past few weeks.

The Lumberjacks got that boost in moral last Tuesday night when they faced the Huntington Red Devils at Lumberjack Gymnasium.

The Lumberjacks swarmed Huntington with an explosive 75-54 win.

Edwin Simon took the charge for the ‘Jacks with 15 points, while JJ Hayes and Cornelius Polk both had 12. Rounding out the scoring were Zetayvius Holmes with 8, Ketarus Stanton and Christian Lovelady with 7, Victor Arreola had 6, while Devoyus Mark and Antonio Johnson had 4 each.

The Lumberjacks then went on to face off against the powerful Crockett Bulldog team on Friday night and did not fair as well.

The Lumberjacks left Crockett after an upsetting 89-75 loss.

Leading scorers were Ketarus Stanton with 17 points, Beck Simon and Devoyus Mark both had 16. Other scorers were Zetayvius Holmes with 10, Antonio Johnson and Victor Arreola with 6 each, and Alex Castillo with 2.

The Diboll Junior Varsity defeated the Crockett Bulldogs 53-50 following a heated battle.

Lead scorers from the game were:

Sammy Haywood - 22

De'antre Loche - 10

Carlos Palomo - 10

Damion Baldwin - 6

Cody Stifle - 5
