Diboll Day proceeds to be shared with the “community with heart”
When the late Arthur Temple Jr. and Joe Denman planted the seed that created the first Diboll Day in 1953, little could they have known that it would turn into one of the largest fundraising events in the state.
During the month-long activities, four fundraising groups comprised of local citizens, business and civic leaders and employees of Temple-Inland, pulled out all the stops in an effort to raise funds to benefit community projects. All four groups, raising in excess of $100,000 each, brought in a record-setting total of $465,000, surpassing the $436,153 record set in 1998.
The proceeds from this now biennial event have been totaled and, according to Melissa Chumley, president of Diboll Booster Club, organizers of the event, “It's time to share the ‘fruits of our labors' with the following community organizations and projects.
