Funeral services for J.F. Bourrous, 85, of Lufkin, were held Friday, February 16, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joseph Dufner, Reverend Eddie Ballard, Reverend Jerry Browning and Reverend Mark Livingston officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Bourrous was born September 21, 1921 in Angelina County, Texas, to the late Stellar (Largent) and John Dearman Bourrous, and died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 in a local hospital.
Mr. Bourrous was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from Lufkin Trailers after 46 years of service as a supervisor. Mr. Bourrous was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Dr. Joseph Dufner and Pat and Mike Baird, all of Diboll; son and fiance, John Frank Bourrous and Melisa Page of Bay City; grandchildren and spouses, Rebecca and Kevin Jones, John and Marilyn Dufner, Julie and Steve Sullivan, Michael and Shandi Baird, Jeffery and Pam Baird, Christie and Ed Beetler, Jonathan Bourrous, Kortni Page, Steven Page, Lisa and Vic Everett, and Jason and Sara Glenewinkel; great-grandchildren, Misty and Jason Passmore, Amy Dufner, John Dufner, Sean (S.M.) Sullivan, Sharon Sullivan, Bubba Baird, Cody (Wild Bill) Baird, Dilyn Baird, Klein Baird, Michael Sneigoski, Chris Sneigoski, Jayden Bourrous, Nicole Glenewinkel and Allison Glenewinkel; sister, Pauline Dunn of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, G.P. (Jerry) and Ella Mae Bourrous of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Bea Bourrous of Lufkin; nephew, Curtis Dunn; and nieces, Lucretia Bourrous and Deborah Casburn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Bourrous; granddaughter, Deborah Dufner; and brothers, Bassett Bourrous and Paul Bourrous.
Pallbearers were Mr. Bourrous' grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be LeRoy Green and members of the James Smith Sunday School Class of Keltys First Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Keltys First Baptist Church, 2402 N. John Redditt Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
