Georgia "Granny" Horton, 81, of Diboll, was born February 22, 1926, in Clawson, Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Martha (Stephens) and Edward Wilson. She passed away Friday, March 2, 2007, in a Diboll nursing facility.
Mrs. Horton worked as a nurses aide at Angelina Nursing Home, and worked at Temple-White in her earlier years. She loved gardening, whether it was flowers or vegetables. She could grow anything, and her family was raised on vegetables grown in her garden. She also enjoyed crafts, especially quilting and crocheting. She was devoted to her family and loved her cats and dogs. Mrs. Horton was a lifetime member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie R. and Julie Horton of Diboll, Sammy J. Horton of Palestine, and Gary W. and Jennifer Horton of Diboll; daughter, Ginger Smith of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Alline and Jerry Reeves of Pollok; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Wruble Lee and Dorothy Brown, both of Diboll.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by her husband, Rabon W. Horton on September 4, 1980; sister, Alline Tomlinson on September 18, 2006; and granddaughter, Jennifer Horton.
Pallbearers were Todd Horton, Chad Camp, Warner Camp, Rabe Horton, Abb Grumbles and Derek Lowe.
Honorary pallbearer were Jeffrey Horton. Services for Mrs. Horton were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Vic Bass and Reverend Charlie Mettlen officiating. Interment followed in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.
