What started out as a prank quickly turned into a felony offense for 10 Diboll High School students.
On Tuesday evening of last week, the group of 10 senior athletes, allegedly went to the high school campus and broke into one of the buildings. The next morning, custodians and administrators discovered the prank and called in extra staff to help clean up, which postponed the start of school for a short while. The exact details of the ‘prank' are not known, but there is no indication of anything being stolen or broken and no report of injury. Calls to adminstrators at Diboll Independent School District were unsuccessful due to the offices being closed for spring break.
The 10 students were taken to the Angelina County jail where they were booked and charged with burglary of a building. They are identified as Draylen Fussell, 18; Jarrod Christmas, 18; Carlos Nunez, 18; Ben Charles Beaty, 17; Sean Havard, 18; Michael Mitchell, 17; Jayce Murry, 18; Courtney Tillman, 17; Gilbert Moye, 19; and Winston Ives, 18. Their release was subject to bonds and all will appear before a judge for disposition of the matter.
