School, city elections set for May 12

The city of Diboll will conduct an election on May 12, 2007 for two at-large council positoins with five candidates seeking those positions.

Incumbents Jaqn Wilkerson and Ricky Conner are on the ballot as are challengers Fred Mitchell, Monroe Lewis Ivey and Gary Jones.

BillBrown is the only candidate running for the position of mayor, currently held by James Sims who has elected not to seek re-election.

The Diboll Independent School Board of Trustees had two positions open with Lynn Pavlic and Jay Wyatt seeking re-election challenged by Ruben Esteves. Wyatt, however, withdrew his name on Tuesday, March 13 just prior to the drawing for position on the ballot. It is therefore likely that the Diboll ISD officials will cancel the need for an election during their next regular meeting.
