Mary Kathryn Trout, 98, of Lufkin, was born July 6, 1908, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Elnora Anastasia (Norton) and Walter Spencer Wessling. She passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Trout was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of First Christian Church. She was an extraordinary lady, who loved her Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs. Trout also deeply loved her Church and doing the Lord's work. She eagerly reached out to those in need, blessing so many here in Lufkin and throughout the world.
Survivors include daughter, Woodie Lou Trout Hicks of Lufkin; grandchildren, Edward Alvin Hicks and wife Sissy of Dallas, Kendall Kathryn Hicks Nidoh of Houston, Courtney Kay Stout Simon and husband Troy of College Station, and Taylor Alan Stout and wife Leda of Houston; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Hicks, Courtney Hicks, Matthew Nidoh, Andrew Nidoh, Joshua Simon, Elizabeth Simon, Rachel Simon, Nicholas Stout and Payton Stout; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Trout was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Trout, on August 15, 1980; daughter, Lynne Elizabeth Trout Stout; sister, Helen Amelia Bethke; and brother, William Walter Wessling.
Pallbearers were Matthew Nidoh, Andrew Nidoh, Bill Trout, Frank Ragland, Frank Stevenson, Jim Haley, Rod Pittman and Thomas Rainey.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Poland, Jim Riggs, Ernest Rowe, Walt Bardwell, Fred Griffin and Joe Byrd.
The family suggests memorials may be made in Mrs. Trout's memory to First Christian Church, 1300 S. First Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
Services for Mrs. Trout were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Hunter, pastor of the First Christian Church, and Reverend Herman Hendrix officiating. Private interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
