Dorothy Ellison Van Donk, 83, of Lufkin, was born February 29, 1924, in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Nora (Hatfield) and John Pruitt. Mrs. Van Donk passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Van Donk was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was retired from Murray Rubber Co. She loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed gardening, tending to flowers, swimming and fishing. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Geneva and Odis Beaver of Lewisville; grandchildren, Tonya Simmons and Chuck Hilton; five great-grandchildren; brother, Burl L. Pruitt, Sr. of Yantis; sisters, Minnie Penney and husband Clifton of Cleveland and Helen Holman of San Marcos; nieces, Linda Holland and Dorothy Blankenship and husband Rodney, all of Lufkin, and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mrs. Van Donk was preceded in death by her husbands, Jacob Ellison and John Van Donk; grandson, Robert Hilton; sister, Pauline Polson; and brother, John Vernon Pruitt.
Graveside services for Mrs. Van Donk were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the Pavilion in the Trinidad Cemetery in Henderson County, with Charles Kimble will officiating.
