While everyone else was on spring break the Diboll Lady Jacks were hard at work. Facing two powerful opponents on back-to-back days last week the Lady Jacks could not find their bearings and lost both games.

On Thursday the Lady Jacks hosted The Center Lady Roughriders at noon. With the warm sun beating down and drying the drenched ground the Lady Jacks seemed as though they could not gain their footing on their home ground.

The Lady Roughriders came to Diboll on Thursday to fight it out in the Lady Jacks' first game of the week. For the Diboll ladies Tracey Morado took to the mound and held strong for Diboll despite giving up five hits and four runs. Morado ended the game with six strikeouts and three walks.

The Lady Jacks also made two big double plays one with Krysti Esteves snatching a line drive at third then firing a shot to Monica Mettlen at first to snag the runner. The other came from Mettlen alone when she snared a fly to first and stepped on first base to put down the runner as she was headed for second and wasn't able to tag up.

On the opposite side of the plate the Lady Jacks found themselves a bit lacking from their usual drive at bat. The only run for the Lady Jacks came from Morado following her double when Esteves batted her in as she posted one of her two singles for the game. Other offensive strides were made by Chelsea Waters, Jasmine Lewis, Natalie DeJesus and Mettlen all with singles.

On the following day the Lady Jacks made the drive to Carthage to face off against the overtly powerful Lady Bulldogs. Despite impressive performances at the plate from Diboll the Lady Jacks could not muster the runs needed to bring down the ladies of Carthage who came out on top 12-4.

At the plate for Diboll Waters had a double and one scored run, Morado posted a single, a double, one run scored and a RBI, Danae Lakey put up a double and a scored run, Hope Lakey had a double and a RBI, Jasmine Lewis put up a triple and a single and Esteves and Mettlen each had a single and one RBI.

At the mound for the Lady Jacks Morado had a tough game allowing nine hits, twelve runs, two walks while benching only two batters.

The Lady Jacks travel to Huntington on Friday and then host Crockett the following Tuesday. Both games start at 6:30 pm.
