Funeral services for Charles M. ''Mr. Charlie'' Duke, 80, of Lufkin were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Kolk officiating. Interment followed in the Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Duke was born July 29, 1926, in Nacogdoches, and died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, in a local hospital.
Mr. Duke served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from the City of Lufkin Water Department following 38 years of service. He served on the board of Hudson Water Supply for a number of years. Mr. Duke attended the Cross Road Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Irma Duke; son, Kenneth Duke and friend Becky; three grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; sister, Ruby Alders; brother, John W. Duke Jr.; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors, was in charge of arrangements.
