The 'bats were blazing' for the Diboll Lady 'Jacks last Wednesday as they soundly defeated the Crockett Lady Bulldogs 19-3 in District 20-3A softball action.
The Crockett squad took an early lead in the top of the first with two runs off two hits crossing the plate; Diboll then took over in the bottom of the first and never looked back. The Lady 'Jacks scored five runs in the first, another four in the second, six runs in the bottom of the third, and finished off the opponents with four more in the fourth. Crockett posted only one more hit and run scored making the final score 19-3.
Hope Lakey and Jasmine Lewis carried the big bats for the Lady 'Jacks. Lakey had four hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs. Lewis blasted three doubles and drove in three runs in the win that brings Diboll's season record to 13-12.
Diboll Coach Pam Bass saw her other Lady 'Jack hitters contribute to the cause.
Natalie DeJesus had a two-run triple and a single, Liz Castillo and Danae Lakey each with a double and an RBI, Kayla Martel added an RBI single and Rachel Coleman, Izuki Moreno and Tracey Morado with a single apiece.
Morado was the winning pitcher for the Ladyjacks allowing only three hits, three walks and chalked up seven strikeouts.
