GARY MCGAUGHEY

Nov. 28, 1949 - April 13, 2007

Funeral services for Gary B. (Gunch) McGaughey, 57, of Diboll were held Monday, April 16, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Andy Gossett and Reverend Jeff Stull officiating. Interment followed in the Alto City Cemetery.

Gary was born November 28, 1949 in Jacksonville, Texas to Ora Mae (Dixon) and H. B. (Rip) McGaughey and died Friday, April 13, 2007 in a local hospital.

He grew up in Alto where he played football and baseball for Alto High School from which he graduated in 1968. He attended Kilgore College where he received an associate's degree in Industrial Drafting. He lived in Diboll for 36 years. Gary, an avid fisherman and hunter, was affectionately known as Gunch to his friends and PawPaw to his grandchildren. He was a former member of the Lufkin Bass Club, the Ryan Lake Hunting Club, and he had coached Diboll Youth Baseball many years. He had been a supervisor for Fiber Products, Temple-Inland for 31 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Diboll.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Jeannie McGaughey of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Celsa McGaughey of Diboll; daughters and sons-in-law, Marla and Kenneth Dudley of Cypress, Jana and Orlando Estrada of Diboll; grandchildren, Chandlyr and Eli McGaughey of Diboll, Avery and Abigail Dudley of Cypress, Andrew and Lily Kate Estrada of Diboll; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Rena McGaughey of Bullard; brother, Jimmy McGaughey of Alto; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Gay and Phillip Hennage of Sands Springs, Oklahoma; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robin and Janet Townsend of Alvin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and John Beeson of Rusk, Sheila and Gaylon Johnson of Rusk, Janet and Wade Holder of Bandera, Joni and John Speanburg of Coppell; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Betty Townsend of Rusk; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Captain Francis Townsend.

Pallbearers for his service were Kenneth Capps, Ruben Esteves, Randy Havard, Eric Hernandez, Charlie Mann, Chuck Mann, Mike Shurley, and Gary Windsor.

Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors were entrusted with the arrangements.
