Diboll tracksters qualify for regional competition

Martell sets new school record in pole vault

The track athletes from Carthage took the lead in points after the first day of the District 20-3A track meet at Diboll's Lumberjack Stadium, and hoped to continue throughout the finals on Friday.

The Carthage Bulldogs scored 72 points ahead of Hudson with 46. Crockett was third with 45, Rusk had 18, Diboll had 17, Center had 9 and Huntington standing in seventh with 8.

The Lady Bulldogs outdistanced the other squads with 51 points, just ahead of Diboll with 45 1/2. Rusk was third with 30, Hudson and Huntington had 28 each. Crockett finished with 19 points, and Central picked up 1.

Carthage remained strong in the second and final day of the District 20-3A Track and Field meet held in Diboll.

The Carthage Lady Bulldogs racked up 193 points while second place Diboll had 90 1/2 points. Center was third with 75 1/2, Rusk was fourth with 74, Hudson was fifth with 72, Crockett was sixth with 58, Huntington was seventh at 52, and Central was eighth with 1.

The Crockett Bulldogs had 157 points while Crockett had 126. Hudson was third with 91, Diboll was fourth with 78, Center was fifth with 68, Huntington was sixth with 54, Rusk was seventh with 42, and Central was eighth with 3.
