Temple Library expansion set to begin soon Large crowd attends groundbreaking event
Employees, friends and partrons of the T. L. L. Temple Memorial Libaray in Diboll, were on hand last Wednesday afternoon to witness the ground-breaking ceremony for the upcoming, multi-million dollar expansionproject of the facility.
Kathy Sample, Library Board Chair, welcomed and thanked everyone for attending and sharing in the wonderful occasion, followed by the invocation delivered by Gary Fannon, minister of the First Baptist Church of Diboll.
Jack Sweeny, Group vice-President, Forest Prouducts, Temple-Inland introduced the various attendees of the ceremony. Pete Smart, Vice-Chair of the Library Board then gave a brief history of the library.
Remarks were also given by Buddy Temple, Chair, T. L. L. Temple Foundation and Claude E. and Marjorie Welch, chairs of the Fundraising Committee, and Judge John Hannah Reading Room, all whom have been instrumental in providing or securing funds to help in the project.
Other members of the Library Board include Kenneth Williams, Linda Maxey, Sally Macher, Ellen Temple, Alan Miller, Carolyn Elmore, John McClain, Stacy Cooke, James Rhone and Mike Warren.
Library staff members include Library Director Brenda Russell, Irma Guerrero, Mary Howell, Chaunta Jolly, Nelda Porter and Maribel DeJesus.
Following the ceremony, those in attendance enjoyed a fellowship time along with refreshments.
Work on the $2 million dollar project is expected to begin in the very near future.
