LAMERLE CRUMP

Funeral services for LaMerle Crump, 81, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at 3 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Hedges officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Appleby at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Crump was born July 30, 1925, in Garrison, Texas, to the late Louell Stokes and Olin McIlwain, and died Monday, April 30, 2007, in Lufkin. Mrs. Crump had lived in the Lufkin area for the last 16 years, and had previously resided in Garrison and Houston. Mrs. Crump worked at Heights Hospital in Houston. She began her banking career in 1966. She was an officer of the National Association of Bank Women. She was named Woman Banker of the Year by the American Institute of Banking. She retired as Vice President of First City Bank - Northline of Houston. After retirement she returned to Garrison and was active in the Garrison Heritage Society, during the restoration of the Wiley Hotel. She was also a volunteer at Woodland Heights Medical Center for nine years. She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church - Lufkin. Mrs. Crump was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She was lovingly known as "Dan Dan" by her children and grandchildren. She carried a very sweet spirit. Besides being active in her career and helping others, one of her main loves was "Family" and all that it means.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Ellie Crump of Lufkin and Rick and Wendy Crump of Friendswood; grandchildren and their spouses, Gerald and Jaimie Crump Jr., Julie and Jed von Heimburg, Tyler Crump, Allie Crump, Keith and Rhonda Jones and Bobby and Karen Jones; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Melvalene Cohen of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Jim Mewbourn of Lufkin; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Crump. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
