The Diboll Lumberjacks closed out their season and upped their District 20-3A standing at 7-7 with a 5-2 win over Central.

Kyle Prescott was on the mound for the Lumberjacks and despite giving up five walks and seeing his teammates commit four errors, came back striking out eight.

Ketaraus Stanton led the Lumberjack hitters with three singles and three RBIs while Joey Solis and Carlos Morena added two singles each; Prescott, Chance Johnson, Nick Cortinex and Faustino Salaiz each added a single.

Central record, 9-5 was good enough for third place in the district and are headed to the playoffs.

Diboll JV 9, Central 0

Sergio Pena and Alec Gaard teamed up to pitch a two-hitter as Diboll downed Central 9-0 in junior varsity baseball action Friday.

Pena worked the first five innings, giving up two hits and striking out six. Gaard pitched the final inning and struck out the side.

Pena and William Tudman led Diboll at the plate with three singles apiece. Jesus Guerrero had a pair of singles, and Gaard, Jonathan Fuentes, Blake Bell, Ryan Rasbeary and Justin Neyland each had a single. Trey Loche and Jose Mariotto added RBIs for the winners.
