Out in Left Field with Russell Payne

Spurs vs. Suns

Paging Vince McMahon, paging Vince McMahon!

Boy, oh boy do I have an idea for a WWE Pay-per-view extravaganza like one never seen before and I think folks might actually shell the money out for it. The San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns are putting on the biggest dog fight the NBA has possibly ever seen in the postseason before.

Starting with the bloody nose of Steve Nash in game one, to the busted and bloody eye of Manu Ginobili in the third game these two teams have gone at it with a blind rage for one another. Add to that the whining and crying of Shawn Marion about Bruce Bowen and now the debacle at the end of game four with Robert Horry. This series is going to be remembered for a very longtime to come.

What happens next is anyone's guess, with Horry facing a possible suspension and the likelihood that Amare Stoudemire and another Suns player both leaped off of the bench and ran on the court could also draw some suspensions.

Well I am hoping for the commissioner to recognize the facts about this series and pay attention to what caused the frustrations of Horry on Monday night, oh and the extra flopping that Nash did when Horry fouled him. Yes, the foul was hard, but Yao Ming would tell you he gets beat up constantly under the basket and never gets a call all of the time himself.

Let them all finish this series and if the play truly gets out of hand, and only then should anyone be suspended. Once the real need for Vince McMahon becomes apparent I see the need for suspensions, but until then the Suns have asked for tough play and the Spurs I have a feeling are about to step up with the rebirth of Duncan's career and give it to them.

You see long gone are the days of David Robinson's Spurs and the chants of wimpy, this team is the complete opposite and the chants of 4-Time, 4-Time, 4-Time World Champs are what you are going to hear next!

Cuban Cried

It is fitting to listen to Mark Cuban's tearful remarks about Dirk Nowitzki, especially as I look outside of my office window looking at the Dairy Queen, remember that one?

What I love most is how a guy less likable than Bud Adams, Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder all wrapped up in one tries to use tears to hide the fact his player is not worthy of being the Most Valuable Player in the NBA. This award belonged to Steve Nash, and Nash will soon learn the Finals MVP belongs to Tim Duncan; kind of an irony there.

None the less this award has been the center of controversy for years now, but this may be the straw that broke the camel's back. I mean if Hakeem against Mr. Robinson was not proof enough that we need to wait to crown and MVP, and that was almost 15 years ago, than I do not know what is.

Dirk is no MVP!
