Last week there was quite a bit of fanfare at a gathering to honor five young men that have competed gallantly over the years on the athletic fields of Diboll High School. Amongst them were four that will continue their athletic career on the football gridiron, and the other will take his talents to the hardwood for a while to come.

Amongst the Diboll Lumberjacks committing to continue their football careers were Courtney Tillman to Mary-Hardin Baylor, Kylan Herchman has a date as a walk-on at Blinn Junior College.

There is also another pair that will continue to grow and play football together in Winston Ives and Victor Arreola. This duo has made the leap as Tigers of East Texas Baptist University.

Finally, not wanting football to receive all of the attention was Steven Holcomb and his basketball skills will be heading off to college as well. Holcomb has signed on to play ball for Southwest Texas Junior College.

Athletic Director Gary Martel was adamant about how important it was to understand that the recruiting process does not stop on National Signing Day. "The recruiting process does not stop there," Martel stated.

These five young men join previous Lumberjack athlete's Gilbert Moye, Missouri, and Edwin Simon to Navarro Junior College. Both of these young men had made their intentions back in the fall.
