The final bell of the 2006-07 school year has rung out in the halls of Diboll High and with that the focus of most high school kids will turn to sleeping, hanging out with friends or maybe a summer job. As for the young men who make up the Diboll Lumberjack Football team it means a tough Summer of working out and preparing for the 2007 and another District 20-3A crown.

During the Spring offseason the athletics program went through Boot Camp up until the TAKS test was administered in April. Boot Camp consisted of 5 days a week focusing on weights, grass drills, running drills and mental check ups that are designed to enhance listing skills.

The final was a 40 minute competition between the athletes that included 100 bench press reps, a 400 meter tire run and 160 yard tractor tire flip relay that had to be completed by everyone.

The month of April and May saw the entire athletics program form Lumberjack 7th graders all the way up working on football drills, techniques, alignment, assignment and 7 on 7 drills.

The Lumberjack now can focus on the Summer. DHS will be returning only 18 Letterman this year, so it will be an important Summer looking to see who surfaces to fill some of the vacancies on the field next Fall. During the next couple of month's the Lumberjack will undergo Summers workouts in the Ironjack Summer Program.

The program will take place in two sessions four days a week and will be overseen by the Diboll Coaching Staff. It will consist of numerous area of importance for the upcoming season. With a focus on conditioning, speed and weight lifting the program is designed to keep the Lumberjack in shape and build them up to the conditions needed to not only make it, but compete at a high level all next season.

The summer will also see the Lumberjack having some fun in the 7 on 7 league. Football is king in Texas and the king is coming back.
