Diboll heads to Rice

The competition has been getting hot and heavy as athletes from Diboll, Lufkin, Livingston and Huntington have been going at it each week in the 7 on 7 league locally. Two teams from each school come out each week and participate in competition more reminiscent of a game of tag in the backyard than Friday night football.

The local league games get started 5:30p.m.each Monday night through June 25, with games being held on a rotating basis between the four high schools. Monday night's action was held in Lufkin.

Diboll will now make the journey down to Houston this weekend for the Rice University 7 on 7 Qualifying Tournament. The Lumberjacks will play at 9:30a.m. in the Pool 1 Bracket, with Bandera, Danbury, Giddings and Hitchcock. The Pool 2 Bracket will consist of Lavilla, Marlin, Orangefield, West Orange-Stark and Wharton.

The winner of each pool will meet up at 2:30p.m. in the title game. The winner will have a bid to play in the field of 64 teams that will participate for the Texas State 7 n 7 Championship.

Diboll will also play ing the June 23 qualifier at Lufkin.

League's are being held by different high school program's all over the State of Texas. Regional Qualifiers have already been held at several school's as well, Baytown Lee has already qualified with a Championship in the Manvel High School Tournament last week..
