Diboll ISD to allow new transfer students after three-year halt
While some conditions were noted, the Diboll Independent School (DISD) Board agreed to once again accept new transfer students to the campuses at DISD.
The action was taken during a board of trustees meeting held last Tuesday.
New Superintendent Brent Hawkins brought the idea to the board members because of the success with the district's existing transfer students and feels that DISD has the room for growth and our doors should be open to welcome others to the Lumberjack community.
To transfer, a student can not have attendance or discipline problems and other conditions include whether there is room in the grade level for transfer.
Trustees voted to set the cost for transfer students at $750 a year, with additional children in the same family at $250/year.
In other action, the board officially named Hawkins as superintendent, after the expiration of the state-required 21-day waiting period. Hawkins has served as interim superintendent following the resignation of former superintendent Horace Williams in February.
