The Diboll City Council met Monday night, June 11, for a regularly called session at the city hall. The agenda called for several appointments of Diboll representatives to different boards that affect areas reaching farther than just the local area.

First, was the appointment of a city representative to the Angelina County Central Appraisal District for the next year. Diboll City Manager Kenneth Williams presented a couple of names of local residents that had volunteered to be on that board, at which time Alderman Gandy Stubblefield motioned for the appointment of Lewis Ivey to fill the position. Council members voted and approved Ivey who will start training this month in preparation for appraisal reviews brought forth by residents disputing their property values in Angelina County. The position will compensate Mr. Ivey with $75 per day that they are meeting.

In another appointment to the Deep East Texas Council of Governments, the council voted to appoint Stubblefield to the vacant Diboll post. This position, according to Williams, must be filled by either the Mayor or a councilman. Ricky Conner made the motion that was seconded by Gary Jones, council voted unanimously in favor of the appointment.

In other action council heard an overview of the city's finances in the quarterly report from Finance Director Elvia Esteves-Garza. There was also approval to have city staff go out for bids on health insurance and solid waste disposal services.
