T. L. L. Temple Memorial Library news

Library Staff

Summer Reading Clubs are underway at the T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library. Last Week the Teens enjoyed a fun hour of games like banana hockey, pass the present, and wrap the mummy. There were two prizewinners in the weekly drawing, Layla Barron and Amanda Reynolds. Congratulations girls! The Children's Summer Reading Club started with a whopping 60+ kids and adults to attend the kick-off party. Featured speaker, The Creature Teacher, Robin Wheeler entertained the children with a Ball Python, Bearded Dragon, Leopard Gecko, Blue-tongued skink, African bullfrog, and a Spiny-tailed lizard from around the world. She educated the children about the animal's habitats, life styles and eating habits. At the end the children were even allowed to touch the animal, if they dared. All in all it was a great beginning to a great summer.

Hey teens, we have a special treat planned for you. Coming up on July 3, at 4:00pm. Shelly Kneupper Tucker, a fantastic teller of tales, will be our guest here at the library.

With her spinning wheel or without, Shelly's delightful brand of "yarnspinning" can rock the tent with laughter, bring the crowd to tears, cause a group to gasp with surprise, or make them shiver with fear. Stories come alive through Shelly's vivid imagination. She paints pictures with words. Not to mention she tells the best ghosts stories that I have ever heard. This is one program that you don't want to miss so come on over and join us!

Father's Day is June 17, 2007 and that is this Sunday so I thought I would share a few last minute gift ideas for Dad: Give him flowers, make him a homemade card, make him a home cooked meal, take him out to eat, make his favorite treat, or give him a basket full of his favorite munchies, set up a massage for him and give him a gift certificate to pay for it. Whatever you do just don't forget to celebrate with that special man in your life.

Coming up at the Library: Teen Summer Reading Club Exotic Drink Contest & Treasure Hunt June 19, 4:00-5:00; Children's Summer Reading Club Find a Treasure June 21, 2:00-3:00; Teller of Tales, Shelly Kneupper Tucker, July 3, 4:00-5:00, for grades 6-12 only; Children's Summer Reading Club Lets Get Crafty, July 5, 2:00-3:00; Children's Summer Reading Club Trixie's Magic, July 12, 2:00-3:00; Teen Summer Reading Club Awards Party, July 17, 4:00-5:00.
