Services for La Rue Price Caples, 78, of Lufkin, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2007, in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Mrs. Caples was born July 19, 1928, in Diboll, Texas, and she died Thursday, June 14, 2007, in a Lufkin hospital. Mrs. Caples was a homemaker and a beloved wife, sister and aunt. She had also been employed for a number of years with Holiday Inn. Mrs. Caples was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and had resided in Lufkin most of her life. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Prentice Caples of Lufkin; sister, Syble Reed of Wells; niece and husband, Sylvia and Marvin Malner of Lufkin; nephews, Ray Reed and wife, Deborah of Huntington, and Don Price of San Antonio; great niece and husband, Becky and Rodney Dorman of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives on both sides of her family. Mrs. Caples was preceded in death by her parents, Eula (Grisham) and Walter Price; brother, William Price; sister-in-law, Billie Price; and nieces, Karen Bryan and Anita Reed. Pallbearers will be Rodney Dorman, Marvin Malner, Sr., Phillip Bryan and Kevin Bryan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home.
