Funeral services for Charles C. Hamilton, 88, of Lufkin were held Monday, June 18, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jack Shoultz and Reverend Carol Turner officiating. Masonic graveside services followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Hamilton was born September 26, 1918 in Independence, Missouri, to the late Grace (Nunnally) and Charles Hamilton, and died unexpectedly Thursday, June 14, 2007.
Mr. Hamilton had livedin Lufkin for the past 45 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, and retired from Lufkin Industries after 18 years of service as Parts Manager in the trailer division. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin. Mr. Hamilton was 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason with the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. He was a member of the Houston Scottish Rite, member and past High Priest of the Lufkin Bodies of York Rite, Lufkin Chapter #240, member and past Excellent Master of the Lufkin Council Chapter #176, and past Commander of the Lufkin Commandary #88. He was a member of the Luf-to-Go RV Club and the Angelina Sam's RV Club. Mr. Hamilton was a former member of the Rotary Club and was active in the Genealogy Society.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hamilton of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Barbara Hamilton of Houston and Reverend Richard and Becky Hamilton of Claremore, Oklahoma; grandson and wife, Craig and Shannon Hamilton of Sunnyvale, California; granddaughter and husband, Heather and Chris Thomas of Humble; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Ariana Hamilton and Brianna and Savanna Thomas; and one sister, Mary Carnes of Independence, Missouri.
His brothers, James and Thomas Hamilton, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Chris Thomas, John Courtenay, Billy Woodward, Matt Woodward, J. C. Crawford and Steve Crawford. Honorary pallbearers were masons from the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.
