Funeral Services for James Edward Broom, 97, of Corrigan will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, in the Union Springs Baptist Church in Corrigan with Pastor James Brock and Pastor Curtis Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan. Mr. Broom was born Oct. 5, 1909 in Benford, Texas, in Polk County and died Sunday, June 17, 2007 in Lufkin. He was a pipe fitter for an oil company. Survivors include daughters, Barbara Liljequist, Marilyn Kelley, Pamela Dial and Linda DeLaFosse; brother, Brunette Broom; sister, Geneva Jernigan; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
