Well after disappearing almost completely from baseball a year ago, Slammin' Sammy Sosa is back and he brought some bang. Sosa met up with the team he will dawn the hat of the Hall of Fame, the Chicago Cubs, last week in Arlington and the result was Sosa's 600th Homerun. The bittersweet moment probably could not have been sweeter and against the Cubs it was somewhat fitting. Sosa joins Mays, Ruth, Aaron and Bonds as the only members of the 600 club. Ken Griffey Jr. could join that club later this year as the slugger is only 19 away.
Silver Boot
The annual Silver Boot Series was all wrapped up this past weekend as the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers met up in the Metroplex for the final half of the year's rivalry. The Rangers won this year's series by winning 4 out of the 6 games in this years contest.
Biggio
Fans of longtime Houston Astros second baseman Craig Biggio will be out in full force when the Astros return to Minute Maid Park this weekend. The likely future Hall of Famer is on a collision course with an amazing feat in the world of baseball. 3,000 career hits is just a few swings away for Biggio.
Also Biggio is only a few multi-base hits away from a 1,000 in his career. In what is likely to be Biggio final season will certainly be an historic event.
