Services for David Hernandez, 75, of Diboll, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007, in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Julio Perez officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Haven Cemetery.
Mr. Hernandez was born May 10, 1932, in Nava Coahuila, Mexico, the son of the late San Juana (Menchaca) and Simon Hernandez. He passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2007, in a local hospital.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a self-employed owner/operator of Hernandez Produce for more than 30 years. Mr. Hernandez was a member of Primera Asemblea' De Dios Church.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Hernandez of Diboll; sons, Jose Alfredo Hernandez, Sr., David Hernandez, both of Houston, Eduardo Hernandez of Diboll, Roberto Hernandez, Gustavo Hernandez, both of Lufkin, and Faraon Hernandez of Austin; daughters, Laura Farias, Charito Maldonado, both of Lufkin, Rebeca De Jesus and Elizabeth Ramos, both of Diboll; 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters; four brothers; and a number of other family members.
