Services for Mrs. Caroline Rodgers, 87, of Lufkin, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 in The Church By Christ Jesus with Bishop Leroy Shankle, Sr. officiating. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lufkin.
Mrs. Rodgers died June 30, 2007 in Lufkin. She was born Nov. 1, 1919 in Louisiana and had been a resident of Lufkin for over 50 years. Mrs. Rodgers was a member of The Church by Christ Jesus. She was a Prayer Warrior and a member of the Mothers Board. Her parents, one brother and six sisters preceded Mrs. Rodgers in death.
Survivors include two sons, Moses Weston of Lufkin and Bishop Leroy Shankle, Sr. of Lufkin; two daughters, Cora Lee Woodson and Verdia Shankle of Lufkin; three brothers, Edward Pattain, George Pattain and Adolph Pattain of Louisiana; two sisters, Mary Lee Pattain and Lucille Pattain of Louisiana; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Leroy Shankle, Jr., Dennis Jordan, Bobby Jolly, Lester Price and Stephen Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers were Minister Robert Proctor, Jr., Roy Shankle, Donald Bennett, Robert Shankle, Benjamin Nash, W.D. Nash, Danny Ray Pier, Billy Pier, Henry Weston and Minister Cedric Jackson. Memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 S. Raguet, Lufkin.
