Funeral services for Dana Vance Collard Chambliss, 69, of Huntington were held Sunday, July 8, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Walter Futch officiating. Interment followed in the Gann Cemetery.
Mrs. Chambliss was born March 23, 1938 in Lufkin, to the late Frances (Wilson) and Marvin Vance and died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at a local hospital. She lived in Angelina County for most of her life. Mrs. Chambliss was a payroll clerk for Perry Bros. in Lufkin, having retired in 1997 after 30-plus years of service. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she served as the Sunday school teacher of 3 year olds, faithfully attended Ladies Bible Study and was a member of the finance committee and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Chambliss of Huntington; daughter, Kelly Frazier of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Kirk and Dianna Collard of Lufkin and Kevin and Christi Chambliss of College Station; sons, Derrick Chambliss of Lufkin and Stephen Chambliss of Burke; grandchildren, Cameron Frazier, Wesly and Patricia Collard, Christian and Jordan Collard, Austin Chambliss, Crystal and Brittany Chambliss and Madison Schultz; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Collard; grandson, Clark Frazier and parents, Marvin and Frances (Wilson) Vance.
Pallbearers were Phillip Laswell, J.W. Watson, J.W. Byars, Harvey McHan, Gerald Snider, and Loyd Durham.
Honorary pallbearers were Steve McComb and Max Haney.
