SIGNS WITH NAVARRO - Jayce Murry, outstanding deep snapper for the Diboll Lumberjacks, traveled to Navarro Junior College in Corsicana Monday to try out for the Bulldog team. Head coach Ray Woodard liked what he saw and immediately signed Murry to fill the center spot for the team. Jayce is shown with his dad, Randy Murry.
Good things seem to always come to those who wait and Jayce Murry is no exception.
Jayce, an outstanding deep snapper for the Diboll Lumberjacks, will now be under center for the Navarro Junior College Bulldogs in Corsicana.
"Coach Ray Woodard, head football coach of Navarro, called me and asked if I knew where he could find a deep snapper," said Diboll Head Coach Gary Martel. "Of course I said I had one of the best around and he needed to contact Jayce and see if he was interested and set up a tryout."
Jayce, who had planned to attend the University of Houston and tryout for that squad as a walk-on, and his dad made arrangements to travel to Navarro on Monday and tryout. "Evidently, Coach Woodard and the rest of the staff liked what they saw because Jayce was signed immediately." said Martel.
Jayce will be handling the snapping duties for extra point attempts, field goals and snapping for the punter.
