Diboll on their way to 3A - 1A championships at Texas A&M

The Diboll Lumberjack 7-on-7 squad will leave Diboll tomorrow morning on their way to compete in the state championship rounds being held at the Texas Aggie Outdoor Intramurals and Club Sports in College Station.

Named after W. O. Penberthy, the father of intramurals at Texas A& M, this award winning complex features a centrally located parking, control, and maintenance facility. To the east, lie 17 acres dedicated to the intramural sports, football, softball, and soccer.

The 'Jacks made their way to state competition by defeating all three teams pitted against them in qualifying competition held at Rice University on June 9. Those teams were Danbury, Bandera and Giddings. Following the opening pool round, the Lumberjacks secured one of the four open spots in the field of 32 that will begin play Thursday in Aggie Land.

The semifinals saw the 'Jacks hand the Marlin Bulldogs a loss while West Orange-Stark side-swiped Normangee to play in the finals against Diboll.

Diboll missed out on an extra point try in the final minute and the Mustangs came back to score the winning points 33-32 over the 'Jacks, giving them a second place finish.

The Lumberjacks are again in the same pool with Marlin along with Celina and Pleasenton.
