Graveside services for Robbie Mae Jones Grimes, 70, of Lufkin were held Friday, July 13, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Crain Cemetery with Reverend Keith Woolf officiating.
Ms. Grimes was born March 24, 1937 in Angelina County, Texas, to Flossie (Nerren) and Robert A. Jones, and died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 in a local nursing home.
Ms. Grimes was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ms. Grimes loved to write, and had written several books and journals. She was a member of Herty Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, William Grimes of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and David Hensarling of Lufkin and Karen and Richard Glista of Bangor, Michigan; father of her children, Carl Ray Grimes; grandchildren, Jennifer Kelley and husband Travis, Heather Hensarling and Tyler Ray Grimes, all of Lufkin, and Angela (Davidson) Tambornino of Anchorage, Alaska; mother, Flossie Jones of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Brianna Kelley of Lufkin and Michael Scott Tambornino of Anchorage, Alaska; and sisters, Sylvia Jones, Edna Jones and Naomi Ellington, all of Lufkin, and Lois Strickland of Clarks, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert A. Jones.
Pallbearers were David Hensarling, Travis Kelley, Richard Glista, Billy Joe Walters, John Mullen and Van Gay. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
